A wide variety of short term Certificate Courses are offered by the institution. Certificate courses are conducted after class hours or during semester breaks. These courses are handled by professionals and experts. These courses are introduced with a motive to help students perform exceptionally well in the job market with additional qualification. Employability and life skills are taught through UGC sponsored Add on Courses. 1 UGC sponsored Foundation course on Human Rights and 1 UGC sponsored Add-on Course on Ornamental Fish Management are offered. Value added courses for all the I UG students are offered and made compulsory. Each department offers 2 different certificate courses for II & III UG students as Skill Development and Career Oriented Programme respectively. Each student leaving St. Mary’s College with a UG Diploma will have completed at least three value added courses.
Consumer Club is introduced with a view to making the students aware of consumer rights and ways of consumer protection. The club organizes guest lectures chaired by expert members of Consumer Club of the Thoothukudi District, to educate the students regarding the need to be aware of consumer rights.
Quiz club aims at moulding the students as competitive performers by increasing their confidence level and IQ. The staff and representatives of club make sure that the students update themselves and be aware of the changes happening locally and globally. The club encourages the students to make regular use of the library, INFLIBnet and other information portals.
