The Department of English (SSC), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC), organised a webinar on Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Enablers on 30th March, 2021. The Chief Guest, Mr. P. Vijayavel CEO, Social activist and Green Visionary, DCE Technology and Jaam Communications, Virudhunagar gave a speech on the topic Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Enablers. Mrs. Maria Sahaya Sharmila, Co-ordinator, Department of English (SSC) delivered the welcome address. The speaker very proficiently explained the term' Ecosystem' and the hazardous waste which is emitted in the environment. He spoke about different types of trees which could be grown in this humid climate. He insisted that each and every individual should be responsible and come forward to form teams to save our environment. Terrace Gardening was also highlighted in his speech. The discourse was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants of the webinar asked many thoughtful and valuable questions. Ms. Hermina, Assistant Professor of English, delivered the Vote of Thanks. The webinar ended with the college anthem.

The Department of English (SSC), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC), conducted a webinar on “Design Thinking and the Teaching of English” on 22nd December, 2020. The webinar started with a prayer song. Mrs. Maria Sahaya Sharmila, Co-ordinator of the Department of English (SSC) delivered the welcome address. Dr. Nishevitha Jayendran, Assistant Professor (English Language and Literature) at the Centre for Education, Innovation and Action Research, Tata Institute of Social Studies, Mumbai was the resource person. The speaker gave a deep insight on how to gain practical and actionable discernment to identify design thinking as a core strategic capability for leading sustainable innovation and learning transformation. The discourse was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants of the webinar asked many thoughtful and valuable questions. Dr. D. Shunmuga Jothi, Assistant Professor of English, delivered the Vote of Thanks. The webinar ended with the College Anthem.
