Report of Alumnae Meet: Chennai Chapter-2020-2021

        The fourth meeting of Chennai chapter was held on 27th March 2021 via Google meet platform and Youtube. Mrs. Griselda, Head Mistress, The Vikasa School, Thoothukudi was the Chief Guest. Nearly 50 alumnae gathered. Mrs. Latha Solomon, Coordinator of Chennai Chapter 2020-2021 welcomed the gathering. Rev. Dr. Sr. A.S.J. Lucia Rose, Principal of our college delivered the presidential address. address. The chief guest Mrs. Griselda addressed the gathering and shared her sweet memories of our college.  Mrs. Ganga Gowri, Mrs. Regina Fernando and Mrs. Sundari Jagatheesan shared their sweet memories and success stories. Mrs. Ganga Gowri of Commerce department and Mrs. Latha Solomon of English department were elected as the co-ordinators for the Chennai Chapter 2020-21.


2019 - 2020

Report of Alumnae Meet:  Chennai Chapter-2019-2020

          The third meeting of Chennai chapter was held on 29th February 2020 at AICUF Hall of National AICUF Secretariat. Dr. Thilagavathi G. Joseph, Associate Professor of English, Stella Maris College (Autonomous), Chennai was the Chief Guest. Nearly 40 alumnae gathered. Dr. Sr. C. Shibana, Deputy Principal of our college delivered the felicitation address. The chief guest Dr. Thilagavathi G. Joseph addressed the gathering and shared her sweet memories of our college.  Mrs. Elizabeth entertained the gathering by conducting games and two of our alumnae performed dance.  Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Sridhar and Mrs. Latha Solomon of English department were elected as the co-ordinators for the Chennai Chapter 2020-21.

2018 - 2019

The 70th Alumnae Meeting was held at St. Mary’s College (Autonomous) Thoothukudi on 2nd March 2019 in the college auditorium. The Principal and the President of OSA, Dr.Sr.A.S.J.Lucia Rose presided over meeting. Dr.S.Gousalya Baskaran, Counseller, St.Mary’s College, Thoothukudi offered the felicitation. The Chief Guest Dr.Rajeshwari Alagesan, Obstetrician & Gynecologist, Rajeswari Hospital, Thoothukudi, and the Guest of Honour Dr. K.Sathya Bama, Principal A.P.C Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi shared their wonderful  memories and emphasized on the importance of the bond between the Alumna and the Alma Mater. They also insisted on the Alumnae’s contribution for the growth of the institution. The business meet was then conducted by the Principal and the following office bearers were elected unanimously. Mrs. Daisy Bai, Associate Professor of Commerce as Vice President, Dr.Mrs.J.Martin Rathi, Head and Associate Professor of Chemistry as Secretary, Dr.E.Daffodil D’ Almeida Assistant Professor of Botany as Joint Secretary, Ms.G.Sharon Roque Corera, Assistant Professor of English as Treasurer, Ms.A.Christy Ananthi Hemalatha , Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Dr. Muthu Mahalaxmi, Assistant Professor of Economics   as Internal Coordinators from regular stream, and Dr. Anbarasi Rodrigo, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Mrs.P.Padmavathy, Assistant Professor of Physics as Internal Coordinator from Self Supporting courses. Mrs.J.Jemi Merlin Rani of History, Dr.Mrs.Jessica Fdo of Chemistry and Mrs. Michael Sa Nicholas of St.Thomas Matric.Hr.Sec.School as External Coordinators. The alumnae were then entertained with cultural and games. Prizes were distributed to the winners.  Nearly 85 alumnae attended the meeting and cherished their memories. Finally Dr.D.Rathi, Assistant Professor of Economics proposed the Vote of Thanks, followed by the College Anthem.

The second meeting of Chennai chapter was held on 23 March 2019 at AICUF Hall of National AICUF Secretariat. Dr. Premila Devi Mary was the chief guest.  Mrs. Helen Moses shared her memories with the alumnae.  More than forty alumnae members were gathered.  Mrs. Ganga Gowri entertained the gathering by conducting games and singing song. Senior alumnae Ref. Sister Jessiee OSM from the History Department and Mrs.Rani Rajiah from  the Botany Department were present.  Mrs. Bharathy of English Department and Mrs. Elizabeth of Commerce Department were elected as the Co-ordinators for the Chennai Chapter 20019-2020.  The members assured to increase the strength of the alumnae meet in the fourth coming years.

2017 - 2018

The 69th Alumnae meet, “Affable Marian Home Coming ’18” in the academic year 2017-2018 was organized at St.Mary’s College (Autonomous) , Thoothukudi on 10th February 2018 in the open air auditorium. The meeting was organized in the presence of the members of the administration, Dr. Sr. Alphonse Roseline Mary , Principal and President of the Alumnae Association, Dr. Sr. Jessie Fernando , Secretary, Dr. Sr. Arockia Jenecius Alphonse , Vice Principal and Dr. Mrs. Dulcy Elizabeth , Controller of Examinations. Rev. Sr. Peregrina , Director, Self Supporting Courses St.Mary’s College(Autonomous) , Thoothukudi  was the Chief Guest and Dr. R. C.Vasuki,  Principal , A.P.C.Mahalaxmi college , Thoothukudi was the Guest of Honour.

The programme began with the prayer song . Mrs.Jeyaselvi , Associate Professor , Department of Commerce and the Vice President of the Alumnae Association, welcomed the gathering. The Principal Dr. Sr. Alphonse Roseline Mary offered her felicitations which was followed by Reading of the Minutes by Dr. Mrs. Irudaya Antonat Sophia, Assistant Professor , Department of Chemistry. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour shared their fond memories about the college. More than 300 alumnae participated in the meeting.

 The business meet was then conducted by the Principal and the following office bearers were elected unanimously. Dr. Mrs. Hermin Pasangha , Associate Professor, Dept. of Zoology as Vice President , Mrs.S.Theresammal , Assistant Professor , Dept. of History as Secretary , Dr.D.Rathi , Assistant Professor , Dept. of Economics as Joint Secretary , Dr. J. Arul Jesti , Assistant Professor , Dept. of Mathematics as Treasurer , Mrs. F. Maria Jenifer Thaya , Assistant Professor , Dept. of History and Mrs. K. Karthika Rohini Assistant Professor, Dept. of English as Internal Coordinators from the the Regular stream and  Mrs.G.Priscilla Pacifica , Assistant Professor , Dept. of Mathematics and Mrs.O.Sony Fernando, Assistant Professor , Dept. of Commerce as Internal Coordinators from the Self Supporting Courses. Mrs.Thenmathy of Commerce, Mrs. Deepa of History and Mrs. Daisy of Botany as External Coordinators.

It was decided in the meeting to inaugurate the Chennai Chapter of the Alumnae Association on 24th March 2018 and to organize the alumnae meet annually on the second week of February . The retired teaching and non-teaching staff members who graced the occasion were honoured by the Principal. A colourful gala of cultural events were organized and the alumnae enjoyed the performances. A few games were also conducted in which the alumnae ensured sportive participation and won prizes.  A delicious lunch was arranged for the alumnae and the meeting came to an end with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs.Sheeba , Assistant Professor , Department of Physics.

Report  of Alumnae Meet : Chennai Chapter

          Chennai Chapter was inaugurated on March 24th 2018 at AICUF Secretariat. Dr. Sr. Arulananda Mary, our former Principal was the Chief Guest. As many as 85 alumnae members, including the senior alumnae, former and present faculty of various disciplines were present at the meet. Dr. C. Nancy Stella Bai, Dept. of Economics, Retired Professor, Mother Theresa University, Dr. Chidambara Vadivoo, Dept. of English, Mrs. Helen Moses, Dept. of Economics, Dr. Gomathi Thiruvasakam, Dept. of Mathematics, Retired Principal, Quaid-e-Millath College and Mrs. Bharathi, Counsellor, Dept. of English (1985- 1988) batch shared their memories and felicitated the Chennai Chapter. Dr. Mrs. Pramela Devi, Retired Professor, Dept of Botany, St. Mary’s college contributed an amount of Rs. 10,000 for the Alumnae Association. Mrs. Suguna, Dept. of Commerce and Mrs. Bhamini, Dept. of English were elected to be the Co- ordinators of Chennai Chapter.

 

2016 - 2017

The 68th Alumnae meet, “Marian Reminiscence” was organized in the academic year 2016 - 2017 on 8th April 2017 at 11.30 a.m. in the College Auditorium. Dr. A. Rajani, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, TBAK College for Women, Kilakarai was the Chief Guest. All retired teaching, non-teaching staff and alumnae were invited to attend the Alumnae meet. The programme started with the prayer song Dr. Mary Judith Reene Fernando, Vice President of the Alumnae Association welcomed the gathering. The Secretary Dr. P. J. Joslin read the minutes of the previous meeting. The Chief Guest Dr. Rajani shared the fond memories of her student days in the portals of the alma mater. She emphasized the importance of bond between the Alumna and the Institution and stressed the alumnae’s contribution towards the growth of the institution and the individuals. Following the initiative of the Chief Guest, a few of the alumnae shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of their campus life with the audience.

            The Business Meet was then conducted by the Vice Principal Rev. Dr. Sr. Arockiya Jenecius Alphonse in which the new office bearers of the Alumnae association were elected. The following members were elected unanimously Ms. P. Jeya Selvi – Vice President, Dr. Irudaya Antonat Sophia – Secretary, Dr. S. Beulah Jerlin -  Joint Secretary, Ms. A. Rashitha Banu- Treasurer, Ms. Annette Roy – Internal Co-ordinator,  Ms. S. Sheeba - Internal Co-ordinator, Dr. Immanuel Catherine- External Co-ordinator, Ms. Jessica – External – Co-ordinator.

            Cultural programmes were organized to entertain the alumnae followed by games in which the alumnae participated enthusiastically and won prizes. Ms. V. V. Thulasi proposed the vote of thanks, followed by the college anthem. A delicious lunch was served for all the alumnae at the end of alumnae reunion. The gathering enjoyed a memorable day at the campus.

2015 - 2016

The executive committee members of the Alumnae association gathered on 22nd September 2015 and 22nd December 2015 to discuss the date and execution of the Alumnae Meet of the academic year 2015-2016.

            It was decided by the committee under the chairmanship of the Principal and President Old Students’ Association, Rev. Dr. Sr. Alphonse Roselin Mary that the Alumnae Meet 2015-2016 will be held on 9th April 2016.

            On 9th April 2016, the Alumnae Meet, “MARIAN RENDEZVOUS” was organized. Around 250 alumnae visited their Alma mater to grace the occasion. To make the celebration more meaningful, the alumnae were received by the respective department staff members and had a meeting in their respective departments. All the alumnae were given a colourful brooch which bore the image of the college emblem and motto.

            The alumnae felt it very nostalgic to meet their teachers and friends in their respective departments. After the gathering at the department, the alumnae were asked to gather in the college portico and were honoured and led by the College Band to the Auditorium for the common celebration.

            The chief Guest Dr. Malarvizhi, Principal, Saradha College, Tirunelveli, and the Guest of Honour Ms. Maria Antonitta, Scientist , ISRO, Bangalore shared the profound memories of their days in the alma mater. The Business Meet was conducted by the Secretary of the college Rev. Dr. Sr. Jessie Fernando, in which the new office bearers of the Alumnae Association were elected.

Ms. Mary Judith Reene Fernando-  Vice President, Dr. P. J. Joslin – Secretary, Ms. K. Karthika Rohini – Joint secretary, Ms. B. Dhivya – Treasurer, Ms. V. V. Thulasi – Internal Co-ordinator, Ms. Ludyma Fernando- Internal Co-oridnator, Ms. Usha Ganesan – External Co-ordinator, Ms. Leena Mahimai- External Co-ordinator.

            Our Alumna, Former Professor and renowned Social Activitist, Prof. Fatima Babu and one of the prominent alumnae Mrs. Vasuki Manoharan addressed the gathering with  their good old memories at the campus. A gala of cultural events were performed as a treat for the alumnae. The staff members of the college staged a drama scripted and directed by Dr. Gousalya. The drama appealed the gathering and the alumnae had a wonderful time at the “Marian Rendezvous- 2015-2016”, cherishing their memories. A grand luncheon party was extended to the alumnae after the celebration.

 

2014 - 2015

The 66th Alumnae meet of our college was organized in the academic year 2014-2015 on 7th March 2015 in the college auditorium. Mrs. Alexandria Fernando welcomed the gathering. Dr. Jeyanthi, Principal, Govindammal Adithanar College presided the function. She shared her fond memories of her days at St. Mary’s. She also gave an inspiring address on the qualities that the younger generations should develop in order to enhance their life style. The event was a successful one and the alumnae who graced the occasion actively involved themselves in the games organized.

The Business Meet was conducted by the Principal, in which Dr. Stella Beatrice Nirmala, Dr. Ellora, Ms. Sharon Roque Corera  and Dr. Amala Arularasi were elected as Vice-president, Secretary, Joint secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Mrs. Rosiana and Mrs. Thibursius were elected as internal co-ordinatiors and Dr.Pramila and Mrs. Fatima Babu were elected as external co-ordinators. Dr. Flora proposed the Vote of Thanks.

2013 - 2014

Our college celebrated the 65th Alumnae meet in the academic year 2013-2014 on 5th April 2015 at 10.30 am in the College Auditorium. The event was organised under the supervision of our Principal and the President of Old Students’ Association  Rev. Dr. Sr. S. Decla. The celebration began with a prayer song by our Marian choir. Mrs. Sudha Rani Vice – president of the Old students’ Association welcomed the gathering. The secretary of the association Mrs. A. Amora read the minutes of the previous meeting. Rev. Dr. Sr. S. Decla in her Presidential Address appreciated the active participation of the alumnae and emphasized the importance of being loyal to one’s alma mater. The Chief Guest Mrs. Premila, Principal of Maharani College of Arts and Science, Dharapuram shared her fond memories about the college and appreciated the recent achievements of the college. There was a special memory sharing session.

The alumnae were called upon the stage to share their fond memories. All the alumnae who attended the event felt refreshed and rejuvenated after this session Mrs. Fernanado Alexandria, Mrs. A. Jacintha Tamil Malar, Dr. G. Flora and Dr. S. Eucharista Immaculate Sylvia were elected as the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Joint secretary respectively. Mrs. Sony Fernando proposed the Vote of Thanks. Ms. Sharon Roque Corera was the Master of Ceremony for the event. The gathering enjoyed a memorable day followed by a fellowship lunch.

2012 - 2013

The college celebrated its Alumnae meet of the academic year 2012-2013 on October 2nd 2012 at 6.00 p.m in the open air auditorium. The event was organized under the leadership of the Principal and President of Old Students’ Association, Rev. Dr. Sr. S. Decla.

            The meeting began with a gathering at the feet of Our Lotus Lady. A short prayer service was organized by the College Choir. The programme started with a prayer song followed by the Welcome Address by Mrs. Amora and Reading of Minutes by Dr. Irudaya Antonat Sophia.

            Rev. Dr. Sr. S. Decla in her presidential address emphasized the active role of an alumna in the construction of an institution. The Chief Guest Mrs. Rohini Motha and the Guest of Honour Mrs. Thenmathi Dhanuskodi recollected the fond memories of their moments in the college. Dr. Mrs. S. Sudha Rani, Mrs. A. Amora, Mrs. O. Sony Fernando, Ms. G. Sharon Roque Corera were elected as Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer and Joint-Secretary respectively.

            Mrs. Maria Sahaya Sharmila proposed the Vote of Thanks. Dr. Mrs. S. Sudha Rani compered the programme. The gathering had a memorable evening followed by a fellowship dinner. The event displayed the loyalty each alumna bore to her Alma Mater.

            Their allegiance of their Alma Mater was further extended by their presence in large numbers on 6th December 2012 for the NAAC team interaction with the alumnae. The NAAC committee was impressed by the overwhelming and assuring response of the alumnae to establish and continue their ardencies with the institution.
