Department of French

The department of French, the smallest department of the college, was established in 1975 by the visionary Servite sisters who wanted to widen the exposure of the students through the channel of yet another foreign language. It has always succeeded in its mission of creating awareness of French Ideologies and Culture which have left indelible prints on the history of humanity. Till today, it bears the credit of being the only college in Thoothukudi district to offer French under Part-I. Several generations of students have acquired the global competency and a few of them have made their mark in the field of French Language Teaching and hold respectable positions in various educational institutions. Today, our students appear for examination which entitles them to international certification in institutes which promote the language. Approximately, seventy students complete their course of French language study every year. The department was chaired by Dr. S. Thenmozhi from 1995 to 2018. At present, Ms. Christina. A, is the faculty in-charge of the French Department.
