Department of History
In 1963 UG programme was started to enhance the future careers of the students and mould responsible citizens of the country. A team of 10 learned faculty vanguard 170 students. Thrust areas of study focusing on competitive employability have been initiated both at UG and PG level. Classroom teaching is supplemented with seminars, project, spot study, field visit, online assignments, audio-visual aids and Power-point presentations. M.Phil. course was initiated in 2006 under Self-Supporting Course. The Department bloomed as Pearl Research Centre for History, Culture and Tourism in 2009 with thrust areas of local history and reveal the hidden facts in limelight. It has three classrooms which includes a smart board and three bulletin boards to upgrade general knowledge. The total strength of UG and PG programme is 170. The department was upgraded as PG department in 1976 to ensure the progress and standard of life of the students. It has two classrooms including interactive board, an enriched library with 2567 books of rare collections including both primary and secondary sources under sixteen headings, e-journals, Archives, laptops, internet facilities and two bulletin boards to be aware of current affairs.
