Marked Events

• 1950: Relocation of St. Mary's College, founded at St. Aloysius Girls High School (1948), to the present campus.
• 1953: Ethel Harvey Hostel, the first new building on the campus, was opened by Mrs. Ethel Harvey & Mr. Graig Harvey.
• 1955: Installation and blessing of the life-size statue of Our Lady of Fatima (15 ft.) on the chimney (90 ft. high).
• 1957:
  • Visit of Dr. C. P. Ramasamy Iyer, Advocate-General of Madras Presidency, in connection with the local celebration of Madras University.
  • Inauguration of the Alumnae Association.
  • Visit of the Honourable Minister Lourdammal Simon and Hon. A.J. John, the Governor of Madras, and his wife.
• 1958:
  • Physics Laboratory blessed and opened.
  • Visit of Hon. B. Medhi, the Governor of Madras, and Mrs. Medhi.

• 1948: 1st July - Foundation of the college with 21 girls at St. Aloysius Girls’ High School.
• 1951: Honoured as a first-grade college of Madras University with B.Sc. Mathematics and B.A. Economics.
• 1956: Inception of PUC with 81 students.
• 1957: B.Sc. Mathematics, Chemistry, and Botany.
• 1963: B.A. English Literature, History, and Zoology.
• 1967: M.A. English Literature.
