Marian Research Consultancy is an initiative of St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, designed to offer practical exposure and real- world engagement to faculty members, research scholars, and students. The consultancy extends its expertise to individuals, academic institutions, research organizations, industries, and entrepreneurs through comprehensive consulting, training, and research services.
This initiative is envisioned as a dynamic learning platform that not only enriches the academic community but also bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It enhances teaching and research by fostering experiential learning and encouraging collaboration across disciplines.
At the heart of this initiative is the Marian Research Forum (MRF), a vibrant research wing of the college, which actively promotes research culture both within and beyond the campus. The Forum serves a broad network of scholars, educators, students, technical personnel, and organisations through its frequent seminars, workshops, colloquia, and extension programmes. On 6th November 2020, the Forum formally extended its services to external stakeholders, marking a significant step towards academic outreach and public engagement.
Leveraging the expertise of the faculty and the well-established infrastructure of the college, Marian Research Consultancy offers a wide range of services—from mushroom cultivation to gene cloning, online marketing to psychological consultation, and nanotechnology to nantopology. These services are available to students, researchers, faculty members, and industrial partners seeking expert guidance for their academic and professional inquiries.
Consultancy support is tailored to the specific needs of the clients and may include:
In addition to client-based services, the consultancy aims to build collaborative partnerships with research institutions, laboratories, industries, and organizations to contribute to programme development and problem-solving initiatives.
Revenue generated through these consultancy activities is reinvested to strengthen the research infrastructure of the college and to promote capacity- building initiatives across academic and industrial sectors.
