Department of Physics
The department offers Physics from the very inception of the college (i.e.) July 1st 1948. In 1979, it was upgraded as an Undergraduate department. Dr. Sr. Jessie Fernando is currently the Head of the department. The UG department is blessed with a team of six dedicated teachers. Around 150 UG students are benefitted from the department every year. The department has been upgraded to offer M.Sc. Physics from the year 2015 as a self supporting course and is running successfully with a team of 5 faculty members. The strength of PG students is gradually shooting up every year. The curriculum is designed so as to keep the students abreast with the latest developments in technology and to develop their creative skills, research skills, employability skills and soft skills. The department has the proud privilege of seeing many of their alumnae holding honourable and respectable positions in various fields and hopes to continue to add much more precious gems in its golden crown.
