Mathematics Research Centre
Mathematics is an amazing and beautiful intellectual creation, one of the human race's deepest endeavors. The world around us, and the future world we are creating, is woven through with mathematics. Mathematics is full of mind-bending concepts and the mathematics department at St.Mary’s is a place to learn about and investigate these ideas.
The Mathematics Research Centre runs an extensive programme of research activities in mathematics. The centre for research was established in the year 2015 to nurture research talents. The centre aims at establishing a universal nature and legitimacy. Faculty members of the department have been actively involved in research activities. The department has two research supervisors and the research centre owns a research room with all necessary facilities.
St.Mary's Mathematics Research Forum
St. Mary’s Mathematics Research Forum was inaugurated on 7th July 2021. The forum is the first of its kind in Thoothukudi to mark the Platinum Jubilee of the Mathematics Department and is the bridge between the researchers and the research. The forum provides venue for the faculty and the research scholars to present their scholarly efforts and in which the campus celebrates the wealth of research across all fields of Mathematics carried out by the dedicated faculty and researchers across the nation. The forum contributes to the continuing professional development of the faculty in all contemporary fields and areas of research in Mathematics. By bringing the faculty together with scholars working in closely allied fields and providing a formal structure for their interaction. The aim of the forum is to impose the purpose of the research work among researchers and to help them understand what should be done and not be done in research.
