Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments of the college. It aspires to
be recognized for its excellence, valuable and expert resource to the college and maintains a
good record of service from its inception in 1948. In 1951 B.A. Mathematics was introduced
under the affiliation of Madras University and continued as B.Sc. Mathematics since 1957.
The M.Sc. Mathematics programme was introduced as a self-financing course in 2002, and
the B.Sc. Mathematics was launched in the self-finance stream in 2010.The department was
elevated into a research department in the year 2015 with Ph.D. (Full Time & Part Time)
Programme. The Department has celebrated its 70 th Anniversary in the year 2021. To mark
the anniversary,
St. Mary’s Mathematics Research Forum was inaugurated on 07 th July 2021. The Department
aims at holistic development through academic excellence.
