PG and Research Department of History
The highlight of the department of History is the learner centered education of excellence. We develop adaptability to technological skills to meet the challenges to global changes, induce knowledge that foster self learning, community oriented skills and research. In April 2009, the Department of History and Tourism was upgraded into Research Centre. It is named as Pearl Research Centre for History, Culture and Tourism affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
The objectives of the Research Centre are:
- To promote national integration through the study of history.
- To help young women make careers in history and tourism.
- To inculcate in the youth an awareness about the richness of our past.
- To promote an awareness about local history.
Aims
- To update recent trends in history.
- To reveal forgotten history.
- To promote inter-disciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences.
- To focus scientific writing of history.
- To apply concepts from history to current issues and provide solutions.
- To acquire in-depth knowledge of historical periods.
