The first IIC (Institution’s Innovation Council) meeting of Department of Economics was held on 18th December 2020 at 3.00 P.m. through google platform. A panel discussion was held on the topic   “Atmanirbhar Bharat – Vocal for Local, Make in India for the world”.  Dr. Asokan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Govt. Arts College for Women, Salem. Dr. D. Murugan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Dharmapuram Gnanmbigai Govt. Arts College for Women, Mayiladuthurai, and Dr. D. Janagam, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Periyar University, Salem were the resource persons. Dr. Asokan threw light on the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat and various innovations taken place in it so far. He also stressed the need and importance of entrepreneurial activities among the young generations. Dr. D. Janagam expressed her views on women entrepreneurship and developments. The meeting started with a prayer song, followed by welcome address, introduction of resource persons, discussion on the IIC topic by the resource persons and then the meeting ended with the college anthem. Students of III, II UG Economics, Faculties from the department of Economics and other departments participated in it. Sr. Shibana, Vice President of IIC graced the occasion with her presence.
