A wide variety of short term Certificate Courses are offered by the institution. Certificate courses are conducted after class hours or during semester breaks. These courses are handled by professionals and experts. These courses are introduced with a motive to help students perform exceptionally well in the job market with additional qualification. Employability and life skills are taught through UGC sponsored Add on Courses. 1 UGC sponsored Foundation course on Human Rights and 1 UGC sponsored Add-on Course on Ornamental Fish Management are offered. Value added courses for all the I UG students are offered and made compulsory. Each department offers 2 different certificate courses for II & III UG students as Skill Development and Career Oriented Programme respectively. Each student leaving St. Mary’s College with a UG Diploma will have completed at least three value added courses.
Consumer Club is introduced with a view to making the students aware of consumer rights and ways of consumer protection. The club organizes guest lectures chaired by expert members of Consumer Club of the Thoothukudi District, to educate the students regarding the need to be aware of consumer rights.
Quiz club aims at moulding the students as competitive performers by increasing their confidence level and IQ. The staff and representatives of club make sure that the students update themselves and be aware of the changes happening locally and globally. The club encourages the students to make regular use of the library, INFLIBnet and other information portals.
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation cell is established in the year 2022. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation cell is working in the field of building an entrepreneurial ecosystem. It also serves as a nodal agency for the institution to facilitate the studentspreneurs in start-up eco system.ED cell offers training solutions from mind to market. The vision of ED CELL is to augment the pool of entrepreneurs’ indifferent sectors and constituencies in accordance with national priorities and programs. Meanwhile it promotes and nurtures entrepreneurial skills and innovative thinking among students. ELTAI Readers’ Club The ELTAI Readers’ Club is established to promote the culture of reading book among the millennials and instigate a curiosity to acquire knowledge about disciplines other than their own. The ELTAI Readers’ Club create an awareness among the students about the ample digital opportunities available for reading good books. The Club facilitates the students’ interest in reading and understanding of books through the various activities and video lessons available in the ELTAI “India Reads” module. The students are motivated to develop a love for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary reading through lectures, orientations, competitions and discussions.
